Timothy Simons, recognized for his roles in Veep and Candy, has been cast in the upcoming Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In this next chapter of the popular Disney+ fantasy series, Simons will take on the role of Tantalus, a character known for his sardonic and hostile demeanor due to his curse of unending hunger and thirst, which he can never satisfy.
Tantalus, having been released from his Underworld confinement, is now serving as the interim Activities Director at Camp Half-Blood, a position previously held by Chiron, who is now under suspicion of collaborating with Kronos.
The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will feature Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.
Adapted from Rick Riordan’s second book in the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles, The Sea of Monsters, this season will also introduce new characters played by Daniel Diemer as Percy’s cyclops half-brother Tyson, Margaret Cho as Wasp, Kristen Schaal as Tempest, and Sandra Bernhard as Anger.
“Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down,” reads the show’s newest logline. “His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.”
The series hails from executive producers Rick Riordan, Jon Steinberg, Dan Shotz, Rebecca Riordan, James Bobin, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, and D.J. Goldberg. It is a production by 20th Television.
